The Cary Police Department gets involved in the community!
Officer Labrador was on patrolĀ in Maynard Estates where he saw one of Read and Feed’s mobile classrooms, and he stopped to inquire about the program.
Since finding out about us several months ago, Officer Labrador and a couple other Cary officers have been visiting our kids each week.
Officer Labrador connects with the Read and Feed kids on a personal level.
He says, “I grew up in a Hispanic household where English was our second language. My own mother did not speak any English, so learning to read in English was especially difficult for me. This program has been providing these kids with the opportunity to grow and learn in a safe environment, build confidence and find needed resources. I believe programs like this one have a huge impact on the outcomes of these kids.”
