A volunteer with many talents!
If you attended A Novel Night on October 26, you saw the handiwork of our super-talented volunteer- Joey Napierkowski. Joey is an interior designer who has lent his decorating skills to Read and Feed events for the past few years. He “feels it is important that the expectation of what a Read and Feed Event looks like is always a top-notch experience.”
Aside from helping us put on great events, Joey has volunteered in several other capacities since 2010. He has tutored at three different sites, hosted RV cleaning days, assisted with RV retrofitting, and is currently serving on the marketing committee.
Joey continues to support Read and Feed because “the passion still lives strong in the programs founder, Jan Frantz. It’s a lot of hard work, but when you see the smile on the face of a child and you recognize the progress they have made, I think we are all reminded why we became involved.”
For those of you contemplating volunteering for an organization, here is what Joey says about his experience with Read and Feed:
“You can’t help but walk away at the end of the day feeling like you have made a difference. I went into this thinking that I would tutor a few kids, but you can truly become a role model and a cheerleader for a child that just needs someone in their corner. I encourage anyone considering volunteering with the program to think outside of the box- what are your strengths? What could you share to leave your mark on the growth and success of this amazing program?”
