Program Site Coordinator


Mission: To strengthen literacy skills among under-served elementary school children, and provide meals in a nurturing neighborhood environment

 

Position Summary: 

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for providing support and coaching for volunteer literacy tutors and organizing 2-4 program sites during the school year, and assisting with the set up and implementation of summer book distributions.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Create an inspiring, respectful, and learning environment for students and tutors.
  • Manage the volunteers and students’ expectations and keep them motivated.
  • Ensure that safety procedures are being followed at all times.
  • Assist students with choosing three take-home books appropriate with their reading level.
  • Attend Tutor Resource Training and others like Resilience, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), Conscious Discipline and other training opportunities to enhance programs.
  • Assist with tutor training and coaching on a regular basis.
  • Support recruitment and retention of volunteers.
  • Help conduct reading level assessments of students at the beginning of the school year.
  • Help conduct the beginning of the year and end of the year survey for parents and students.
  • Help conduct reading progress monitoring at all sites and input data into Salesforce.
  • Keep in timely and clear communication with the Program and Evaluation Director and volunteers.
  • Input student attendance, number of meals, number of snacks, and number of books distributed at program sites on a weekly basis in Salesforce.
  • Assist Program and Evaluation Director with the implementation of summer book distributions in partnership with the YMCA
  • Support Program and Evaluation Director in responding to programmatic needs and opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between volunteers and Program and Evaluation Director.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in teaching, tutoring, early education programming (great for recently retired teachers!)
  • Enthusiastic and committed to student engagement and success
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed organizational, administrative, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to solve problems or overcome issues quickly and creatively
  • Ability to work positively with volunteers and students with diverse backgrounds
  • Clear criminal and sexual offender background check
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft products such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word as well as Google Suite
  • Experience using Salesforce is a plus

 

Location: The location of the site(s) vary and will be determined with candidates upon selection. 

Time Commitment: 10-20 hours a week (School year programs are typically conducted after 4:00 PM)(Summer distributions are typically conducted between 9:30 am- 3:30 pm) 

Compensation: $16-20/hr depending on skills and experience. Read and Feed will compensate for mileage while completing the responsibilities of a Program Coordinator.
