Read and Feed Programming Notice
3/12/2020
March 12, 2020
Read and Feed Friends and Families,
Read and Feed takes the health and safety of our volunteers, vendors, staff and the children and families we serve very seriously. In light of the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Wake County, Read and Feed has decided to suspend its after-school programs beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, for an initial period of two weeks. During that time we will continue to monitor the recommendations of the NC and US public health agencies so we can provide an update on the status of our programs at the end of those two weeks.
Please be aware that Read and Feed did not come to this decision lightly. Our standard operating protocol is to follow Wake County Public School System’s lead in cancelling programs. As of today, WCPSS schools remain open and they have not cancelled after-school activities. However, because our 500+ volunteers work in close proximity to the children at our 23 program sites, and some of them may fall into the population to be considered “at risk,” we have elected to suspend programs.
We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you apprised of any updates as they relate to our programs. We recognize the need for Read and Feed’s programs remains high, and we are committed to resuming our programs as soon as public health conditions enable us to do so safely.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kati Mullan, Executive Director, at (919)538-3840.
