A Letter to Our Community

Dear Friends,

Read and Feed acknowledges the anguish, fear, and sadness experienced by our communities and nation right now. We stand in solidarity against the inequalities and injustices that continue to grip our country.

Our mission is to strengthen literacy skills among under-served elementary school children and provide meals in a nurturing neighborhood environment. Our vision is a community in which all children have the confidence and ability to succeed. Yet, recent tragic events remind us that we are further away from that vision than we should be.  However, we will do our part to get there. We must confront and deal with the systemic racism that black and brown people confront each day.

It’s critical we continue with our mission to help the children who rely on us to attain literacy skills and build a better future. We fervently drive toward our vision by supporting the children and families who need us most during these challenging times. We provide meals, reading tutors, and a safe space for the children to learn. Working with our supporters, partners and community, we will do all we can to aid this effort.

We remain optimistic and hopeful that our vision can one day be realized.
