Read and Feed has many volunteer opportunities! If you love working with children, consider becoming a tutor or a driver. If you want to support our mission, but prefer to work behind the scenes, food pick-up or administrative support might be better for you. If you love what we are doing and want to tell the world, consider joining our Speakers Bureau or helping us raise funds. Whatever you decide, we have the tools to prepare you for the task.
As a volunteer, we ask for at least a school-year commitment, with the hope that you will be available about 75% of the time during that year. Read and Feed follows the Wake County Traditional School calendar, meeting approximately 9-10 weeks during the fall semester and 12-14 weeks during the spring semester. We have a few sites that meet for 10 weeks during the summer months. Volunteers working directly with children will be required to complete a background check. See the job descriptions below for a better idea of our volunteer opportunities.
If you are interested in helping in any of these areas but would like more information before committing, please complete the form to the right and we’ll gladly answer all of your questions. If you want to sign up now, CLICK HERE.
